Service Dog Handler 80 - 100%With around 1,400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as for the execution of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe. With around 400 detention places, it is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, contributes to the protection of the public while simultaneously creating the conditions for the resocialisation of the incarcerated persons.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed, responsible and resilient individual from 1 October 2026 or by arrangement, who together with their service dog will make an important contribution to security within the JVA Pöschwies.
Your area of responsibility
- Together with your service dog, you ensure safety and order throughout the entire JVA Pöschwies site, thereby making an important contribution to smooth and secure facility operations
- With care and professionalism, you support interventions as well as prisoner transports and contribute to their safe execution in demanding situations
- You take charge of controlling incoming and outgoing traffic including vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with security standards
- In close cooperation with various departments, you support the central office as well as other work areas within the department and the entire facility
What you bring
- Completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence (EFZ), a (specialised) baccalaureate, a specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification
- Ideally professional experience in the fields of justice, customs, police or military
- Independent, committed and responsible working style as well as high mental and physical resilience
- Experience in service dog handling and scent dog handling, own protection dog
- Flexibility for changing working hours and willingness to work shifts, including assignments on weekends, nights and public holidays
- Very good oral and written German skills, additional language skills advantageous, as well as confident use of the Microsoft Office suite
- Minimum age of 25 years and an impeccable character (no entries in the criminal and debt registers)
