In December 2024, Google announced Android XR, and Meta launched Ray-Ban Display in September 2025. Across Meta's AI glasses range, sales exceeded seven million units that year. Together, they point to a new era for augmented reality (AR), with better hardware, stronger software platforms and wider adoption.
In this 6-month internship or master thesis starting in February 2027, you will explore AR interfaces, identify user needs and turn selected ideas into working prototypes, from immersive streaming and product try-on to production-line monitoring, field guidance and private access to confidential information. Your challenge will be to demonstrate where AR adds value and understand its limits, testing usability, technical feasibility and privacy with real users.
Your tasks
- Research AR devices, interaction techniques and existing applications to identify opportunities and limitations
- Explore user needs and prioritise use cases by value, feasibility and suitability for AR
- Select promising scenarios and define their user journeys, architecture and success criteria
- Design and develop interactive prototypes that demonstrate the selected experiences
- Validate with users against a conventional interface; assess usability, performance and privacy, and recommend next steps
What we offer
- A dynamic, collaborative workplace with a highly motivated, multicultural team working across international sites
- The chance to make a difference in people's lives by building innovative solutions
- Internal coding events such as Hackathons and Brownbag sessions, plus our technical blog
- Monthly After-Works organized at each location
About your profile
- Mobile development knowledge (iOS or Android), or experience with a 3D engine such as Unity
- Interest in augmented reality, spatial interfaces and human-computer interaction
- Sensitivity to user experience and interface design
- Ability to research, prototype and evaluate ideas through experiments
- Curiosity, analytical thinking and an interest in privacy and accessibility
