Job Description
As General Manager, you bear overall responsibility for the establishment and ensure excellent operation – both operationally and commercially, financially and in terms of personnel. At the head of multidisciplinary teams, you directly manage all departments, from accommodation to gastronomy, bars, housekeeping and wellness areas. Thanks to your profound knowledge of the hotel industry, you can actively contribute to operational processes and effectively support your department heads. As a true conductor, you ensure the coherence and quality of the customer experience by fostering authentic, warm and detail-oriented hospitality. With particular commitment in the F&B area, you ensure the quality of services, the attractiveness of gastronomy concepts and the liveliness of the various social areas of the establishment. As a hands-on leader, you unite, accompany and promote your employees; as a consistent manager, you control budgets, monitor costs, optimise resources and analyse performance indicators to ensure sustainable profitability. With your strong commercial acumen, you contribute to the establishment’s reputation, open up new business opportunities and maintain close relationships with customers, tourism partners and local economic actors.
Your ability to bring the establishment to life in tune with the seasons, to highlight its various offerings and to make it a place of encounter and sociability is an essential part of your role.
Profile sought
You have a recognised higher education in hotel management and can demonstrate solid leadership experience, ideally acquired in a 3- to 4-star hotel. You combine expertise in the hotel sector, commercial acumen and inspiring leadership skills and possess excellent knowledge of accommodation operations as well as particularly profound expertise in gastronomy and F&B, understanding both operational challenges and levers for profitability. You are comfortable in team management and know how to combine strategic foresight, financial discipline and active on-site presence. Thanks to your dynamic personality, interpersonal skills and diplomatic tact, you succeed in motivating your employees and maintaining constructive relationships with a demanding management. As an entrepreneur through and through, you are characterised by independence, judgement and a genuine sense for the customer experience. Your ability to sustainably integrate into a tourist environment, build a solid local network and increase the establishment’s recognition beyond the local clientele is a decisive advantage. You are fluent in German, French and English, both spoken and written, and hold a hotel operating licence, ideally in the canton of Bern.
