Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.

The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. With 399 places, JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public.

We are looking for a responsible and reliable person with high social competence for the visitor service as a temporary assistant, limited until April 2027, starting immediately or by arrangement.

This is your field of activity

• You supervise and manage the visitor room with the associated infrastructure and ensure an orderly process of prisoner visits
• You manage the prisoners' visit quotas
• You process permit applications for prisoner visits and take on other administrative tasks such as documenting unusual incidents
• You are the first point of contact in the visitor service for prisoners, visitors, as well as internal and external partners, answering their questions and concerns personally at the counter, by phone, email, or postal mail
• Deployments in other areas (e.g., entrance zone) as needed and according to resources

This is what you bring

• You have a federal certificate of competence, a (specialized) high school diploma, a specialized middle school certificate, or an equivalent qualification
• You express yourself very well in German both written and spoken and ideally have knowledge of other languages
• You are proficient with the MS Office suite
• You understand how to consciously regulate closeness and distance to prisoners, demonstrate high social competence and assertiveness
• You are mentally and physically resilient and can accommodate changing working hours (weekend and holiday shifts) with your other commitments
• You have an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record or debt enforcement register) and are at least 25 years old
