To meet the growing need for compelling content that drives private sector engagement, UNICEF PFP would like to engage the services ofcontentproduction professionalstosupport the production ofcontentduring emergencies as well as coordination, planning and project management oflarge projects,engagement events/virtualexperiences thatsupport the acquisition and stewardship of UNICEF’s high value audiences (corporates,foundations,major donors,etc)in emergencies and non-emergency situations as well as impact stories.
This includes working remotely to conceptualize, plan, coordinate, draft creative briefs, script, organize shoots and direct crews on location (usually remotely),shoot photography and video,edit andpost production,fact-check assets, and coordinate approvals.

Research issues and stories to be documented, including pre-interviews

Write briefs, develop story lines and angles to be explored

Brief and work closely (usually remotely) with crewsand contentcreators in the field(videographers, on location producers, photographers), coordinating closely with them during the shoot to ensure the content is developed according to brief and troubleshoot issues as needed, being mindful of sensitivities of specific situations.

Wherenecessary willtravel to the location to support the content creation, direct the technical crew on site, being mindful of sensitivities of specific situations.

Will draft scripts ensuring all the detail (names, locations, facts) have been fact-checked

Ensure all content produced is in line with UNICEF’s brand, ethical and technical specifications

Review, edit, andconsolidatematerial, ensuring clarity and continuity of structure and core themes.

Ensuring all assets are packaged for distribution (e.guploading to UNICEF’s DAM,WeShare) and ensuring all versions (international, mixed, and other social media versions) are available with accompanyingshotlists, metadata.

Work in close coordination (where required) with HQ and Country Office counterparts to help capture relevant stories and photo essays and short digital pieces for social media.

Producing repurposed assets such as explainers, photo essays for specific events or initiatives, milestonemoments.

Ensure all paperwork includingshotlists, scripts are provided according to UNICEF’s standards

Post-Production of high-quality multimedia assets, including human interest stories, narrative content, explainers, montage pieces, thank you videos, impact stories for emergencies, high-value needs, andprivate sector engagement activities such as virtual experiences (e.g.profile stories, b-roll, impact stories, photo loops)

Production support for live or prerecorded online/ virtual events and experiences for private sector audiences by supporting the producer to prepareand package content, and other production needs

Contribute to the briefing of in-country videographers, creatives as needed, and contribute to project team brainstorms and creative ideation as needed

Creating and delivering basic motion graphics for various media

Work in close coordination (where required) with PFP teams, HQ and Country Office counterparts to help capture relevant, powerful stories for private sector audiences.

Review, edit, andconsolidatethe material, ensuring clarity and continuity of structure and core themes.

Check spelling, country, and city names and acronyms and other abbreviations (making sure that they follow official UNICEF terminology and conventions), style consistency and Brand Toolkit

- The consultant will use their own equipment; camera, microphones, software, and other accessories that may be required.
- The consultant will not give the content/material or any part thereof, to any third party without the written permission of UNICEF. All components will be a property of UNICEF, and the consultant will not share the same with anyone else.
- UNICEF will provide all details pertaining to the activity and the requirements.
- UNICEF will orient the consultant on UNICEF’s branding, imagery, and production guidelines.
Work Assignments Overview
Deliverables/Outputs
Category 1: Producers

Identifyrelevant stories and angles suited for UNICEF’s private sector audiences(emergencies and non-emergency settings, includingimpact stories). This includes human interest stories, profiles pieces,callto action pieces, explainersetc.

Plan and coordinate with internal and/or external content production teams and UNICEF teams to document stories, as much as possible in a modular format (photo, video, text).

Videos may vary between 1min – 10min pieces, photo sets - up to 30 photos (including captions), text stories of up to 800 words per story, shorthand multimedia pieces for which each piece could include estimated 4 text pieces (500-600words) including the complication of multimedia material (up to 3 videos, 10 photos)

Oversee the production and post-production processand approval processes

Write scripts and edit text pieces as needed (includingfact-checking)

Ensure the final products meet UNICEF technical, ethical, and quality guidelines

- No travel is envisaged for this consultancy. However, if there is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis, this will be covered separately by UNICEF and not included in the fee.
Estimated Duration of LTA:
- The Long-Term Agreement will be for a duration of three years.
Contracts created against the LTA:
Whenever services are required, details of the requirement/deliverables including quantities and deadlines will be presented to the top-ranking LTA holder. Should this consultant not be available for this assignment, UNICEF will contact the second ranked consultant and so on.
Upon receipt of confirmation of availability and interest in the assignment, a contract will be issued with the prices/fees agreed in the LTA. The consultant must sign the contract prior commencement of work.
Payment will be made after completion of deliverables and submission of invoices for the actual work completed, subject to satisfactory performance.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- A first level university degree in one of the following fields isrequired: Marketing, Communications,the Humanities, journalism, or another relevant technical field.
- Any other additional trainingin a related field is an asset.
- A minimum offive yearsof relevant professional experienceinmultimedia and communications isrequired.
- Provenexperience inallfacetsofmultimedia production is required.
- Experiencein working with professional photographers, videographers, writersis an asset.
- Experience in working with creative teams/ agencies and sound understanding of the creative process is an asset.
- Experienceinscriptwriting is an asset.
- Experience producingvideo content for news broadcasters or other high-pressure environments is desirable.
- Experience in project management is an asset.
- Experience working in a developing and emergency environment is an asset.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and advance to the next stage of the selection process.
Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
