About the job
Senior Specialist in Prison Leave 60 - 80%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe. With 399 places, JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
Prison leave is a crucial step in the transition back to freedom. It allows incarcerated persons to gradually take on responsibility and test themselves in everyday life outside the institution. This makes an important contribution to resocialisation, stabilisation, and social integration.
For this demanding specialist role, we are looking for two experienced individuals (each 60 - 80%) to share responsibility. In close collaboration, you will assess complex issues, make well-founded evaluations, and support each other in professional exchange.
Your tasks
- Independent assessment of applications for leave and outings in the closed and open enforcement at JVA Pöschwies
- Preparation of well-founded and comprehensible statements on escape, public safety, and recidivism risks as a basis for decisions by the Directorate and referring authorities
- Structured, precise, and audience-appropriate presentation of complex matters
- Ensuring compliance with conditions and requirements of approved prison leave
- Close cooperation with the social service, the Directorate, and external authorities within the framework of enforcement planning
- Participation in the further development of professional standards and support in training accompanying persons in the area of leave and outings
- Continuous professional exchange with the second specialist to jointly assess complex cases and ensure consistent decision-making
What you bring
- Completed vocational training or degree at a higher professional or university level, preferably in commercial or social fields
- At least 10 years of professional experience in a demanding administrative, social, security-related, or official environment
- Experience in the structured handling of complex cases and the ability to write well-founded reports, assessments, and summaries in a confident, precise, and audience-appropriate style
- Confident use of digital tools and common MS Office applications, and enthusiasm for actively shaping digitalisation in everyday work
- High discretion, professionalism, and an impeccable reputation (no entries in debt enforcement or criminal records)
Our offer
- Versatile and demanding work with a high degree of personal responsibility
- Shared responsibility and close cooperation with a second specialist as a fixed part of the role
- Meaningful tasks with varied challenges and diverse training opportunities
- Careful and comprehensive induction by the current post holder
- Well-located workplace with excellent public transport connections and available parking
- Attractive employment conditions according to cantonal guidelines
