The Public Prosecutor's Office, with around 250 employees, consists of four regional investigation offices, a Cantonal Investigation Office responsible for the entire canton area, the staff services, and the juvenile prosecution office. The Public Prosecutor's Office is an independent investigative and prosecuting authority of the Canton of St. Gallen, responsible for the uniform enforcement of the state's criminal claims and conducts criminal proceedings for crimes, offences, and misdemeanours.
As the regional investigation office of the St. Gallen Public Prosecutor's Office, the Gossau Investigation Office conducts all criminal proceedings in the Wil, Alttoggenburg, Untertoggenburg, and Gossau areas. The team of around 30 people includes ten public prosecutors, as well as caseworkers with prosecutorial powers, procedural assistants, and trainees. As Chief Public Prosecutor, you report hierarchically to the First Public Prosecutor.
