Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for the enforcement of sentences and measures as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Probation and Enforcement Services (BVD) are one of seven main departments of JuWe and are responsible for the enforcement of custodial sentences and court-ordered measures as well as probation assistance. They make an important contribution to crime prevention and the social integration of offenders.
The Alternative Penal System (ASV) department is responsible for the enforcement of sentences in the special enforcement forms of community service (GA) and electronic monitoring (EM), as well as serving as the EM enforcement office for other EM applications (e.g., electronic monitoring of substitute measures or in the area of juvenile criminal law).
For the ASV department, we are looking for a committed and communicative personality for a 6-month internship in social work starting February 16, 2026 (spring semester start) or by arrangement.
This is your field of activity
- Collaboration in case management: suitability assessments including personal interviews; planning, control, coordination of the enforcement of sentences in the special enforcement forms of community service and electronic monitoring
- independent case management for serving fines and monetary penalties in GA after training and if suitable
- implementation of enforcement in GA (placement in GA deployment companies and monitoring compliance with enforcement conditions)
- making and issuing enforcement-relevant decisions (e.g., reviewing applications for sentence enforcement in the special enforcement form GA and termination of sentence enforcement in GA)
- direct contact with convicted persons, e.g., in the context of suitability assessment interviews, status discussions, hearings before enforcement decisions, or the installation of electronically monitored house arrest
- drafting orders
- writing minutes (meetings, hearings of convicted persons)
- file management and administrative tasks (e.g., scanning and forwarding mail)
- collaboration at the Fines Info Point (BiP)
- supporting the secretariat regarding ensuring telephone availability
What you bring
- ongoing studies in social work (FH/HF) and first internship alongside studies already completed
- responsible and stable personality
- very good German skills in spoken and written form
- interest in (legal) issues in and around sanction enforcement
- enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- completed vocational training or at least 3 years of professional experience is an advantage
- impeccable reputation
