The Public Prosecutor's Office is responsible for criminal prosecution, unless an administrative authority is responsible according to the introductory law to the Swiss Criminal Code. The General Department of the Public Prosecutor's Office handles all cases where no other jurisdiction applies, in particular the jurisdiction of the Traffic Department or the Juvenile Prosecutor's Department.

At the Public Prosecutor's Office Schaffhausen, a trainee position for lawyers with a completed Master's degree is to be filled in the General Department from 1 January 2027 for 13 months.

What to expect

• An insight into the entire field of activity of a public prosecutor
• Opportunity to deepen knowledge in criminal procedure law and criminal law
• Collaboration or independent handling of criminal investigations under the supervision of a public prosecutor
• Conducting interrogations, drafting decisions on case closures and statements in appeal proceedings under the supervision of a public prosecutor
• Conducting inquiries on legal questions

What you bring

• A completed law degree (MLaw) and enthusiasm for criminal law
• Initial experience in administration, at a court and/or in legal practice is an advantage
• Proficiency in the German language, both spoken and written
• High communication skills, adept handling of different interest groups at various levels, and an affinity for criminal prosecution
