The University Psychiatric Centre Bern (UPZ) stands for high-quality psychiatric care, research and teaching. Forensic Psychiatry, as one of four Psychiatric University Clinics, plays a central role in the treatment of complex patients at a university level. In this position, you will assume senior consultant functions with extensive responsibility in the treatment of forensic patients. We are looking immediately or by arrangement for a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy interested in working as part of a committed interdisciplinary team in our outpatient clinic on Südbahnhofstrasse. The outpatient clinic treats mentally ill individuals who have committed offences and live in the community. In addition to patients living freely - treated under criminal law measures, mostly under Art. 63 - patients of the Forensic Residential Home FoWo (Art. 59) are also cared for. Disorder-specific treatments as well as offence-oriented treatments are carried out. Both psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological methods are applied. In the outpatient clinic, you will supervise our assistant doctors in training. Your work periods in our clinic can also be recognised for the specialist title in Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (Category A, 2 years). In addition, you will have the opportunity to complete the requirements necessary for the specialist title.
Your tasks
- You are the medical contact person in our large outpatient clinic
- You are involved in patient care and supervise our assistants in training
- You treat patients with outpatient measures or voluntary patients with potentially forensic relevant disorders
- You independently conduct treatment therapies under specialist forensic supervision
- You actively engage in the education and training for the specialty of Psychiatry at the University of Bern
- You support ongoing research projects and can develop your own projects within the framework of the clinic's research concept if interested
Your profile
- You hold a specialist title in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy or are close to obtaining it
- You have already acquired the specialist title in Forensic Psychiatry or wish to obtain it at our training centre
- Experience in Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, including expert report work, is advantageous
- You work in a structured, responsible manner with high initiative
- You are strong in communication and confident in dealing with internal and external contacts
- You have very good German language skills (level C1). Any additional language is very welcome, French is preferred
