Student Assistant - Data Curation & Supply Chain Knowledge Graphs
Our team at KOF, ETH Zurich is seeking a student assistant to support the project "Computing Resilience Indicators for Pharmaceutical Supply Chains." This project aims to build a comprehensive database linking pharmaceutical production and global trade data to support work on data-driven policies for resilient market design.
Project background
This position consists of database assembly and maintenance, with tasks spanning data discovery, scraping, cleaning, and processing. It is particularly suited to a student with strong data science skills and an interest in working with graph-based database software. .
Job description
- Identifying public and commercial data sources relevant to pharmaceutical production, trade, and supply chains.
- Writing scripts for web scraping and data collection from structured and semi-structured sources.
- Curating and standardizing data for ingestion into a Neo4j knowledge graph.
- Documenting data integration steps and challenges.
Profile
- Enrolled at ETH Zurich or the University of Zurich in computer science, information systems, data science, or related fields.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience with web scraping (e.g., BeautifulSoup, Selenium) and data pipelines.
- Familiarity with databases (SQL, NoSQL); Neo4j or graph databases is a strong plus.
- Interest in applied research on complex real-world systems.
