The Appenzell Ausserrhoden Hospital Network, with the Herisau Acute Hospital and the AR Psychiatric Centre in Herisau, ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.

We are looking for

In the Department of Hospitality & Services under the leadership of Remo Brülisauer, we are seeking an operational and strategic Head of Procurement for an 80-100% workload, starting immediately or by arrangement.

As our system landscape and digital workflows are currently being modernised in parallel, you will not find a ready-made nest here, but a genuine build-up and pioneering task. If you are keen to not only manage structures but actively build them, digitise processes, and lead a team through this change, you are right with us.

Your tasks

• You will take over the professional and personnel leadership of the Central Purchasing team and be responsible for its further development
• You will analyse and standardise procurement processes – your focus will be on building clean master data management in the ERP system (Opale) and automating workflows
• You will develop future-proof product group strategies and support day-to-day business
• You will be responsible for the legally compliant preparation, support, and execution of public tenders according to cantonal and national procurement law (BöB/VöB)
• You will conduct complex price and contract negotiations for capital goods, medical technology, and services and build a strategic supplier management

Your profile

• You have a completed business education at HF/FH/University level with a qualified further education in purchasing, such as Purchasing Manager with Federal Diploma or similar
• You bring several years of professional and leadership experience in strategic and operational purchasing
• Experience in healthcare or a similarly complex environment is a great advantage
• You have practical knowledge of public procurement
• You have a deep understanding of ERP systems and complex data architectures and know how to optimise interfaces
• You are a strong negotiator and analytical personality and possess the necessary assertiveness to engage and inspire interface partners
