The position is attached to the Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR). This department combines a societal mission aimed at enabling access to healthcare for all and an academic mission focused on pre- and post-graduate teaching and research in primary care medicine.

The primary care medicine service provides outpatient care for adult patients within primary care medicine. This service also offers outpatient emergency medical services to the population. As part of the HUG's general interest missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, legal status (asylum seekers, rejected applicants, undocumented persons, prisoners), or lifestyle habits; if necessary, the primary care medicine service also ensures continuity of their care.

Within the Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR), Primary Care Medicine Service (SMPR), the Population Epidemiology Unit (UEP) conducts large-scale epidemiological studies, including the Bus Santé study and the Specchio study ( www.specchio-hub.ch ) which aim to collect health indicators from the Geneva population.

We are recruiting a scientific collaborator for a new innovative paediatric cohort project in Geneva. This study, with a pilot phase in 2026-2027, will follow children and adolescents, with an associated biobank, to better understand the evolution of their physical and mental health, its determinants, and the impacts of societal changes.

Job Description

Within the Population Epidemiology Unit, your mission is to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of an innovative paediatric cohort aimed at monitoring the health of children and adolescents in Geneva. The study will initially be in its pilot phase, subject to extension.

In the first phase, you will be responsible for drafting the research protocol, in close collaboration with the investigative team, defining scientific objectives, methods, data collection procedures, and measurement tools (questionnaires, health assessments, biobank). You will also prepare the necessary documents for ethical submission (CCER).

You will actively contribute to fundraising by participating in the writing of grant applications, budget preparation, and planning of resources required for the project.

From an implementation perspective, you will participate in developing recruitment, data collection, management, and storage procedures, as well as structuring the cohort and biobank infrastructure.

You will take part in the scientific production related to the project (mainly in English), with involvement in defining research questions, analyses, and article writing, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team (epidemiologists, clinicians, statisticians, data managers).

Equipped with a critical mind, great autonomy, and the ability to work in a team, you will contribute to the development of an ambitious and unique project in Switzerland, aimed at generating essential knowledge for youth health and supporting prevention policies and clinical practices.

Qualifications

You hold a doctorate in epidemiology, public health, medicine, or a field deemed equivalent. Initial experience in research or health (notably in population studies) is a plus.

You have good skills in scientific research, statistical analyses, and article writing (mainly in English), and are comfortable structuring protocols and research projects.

Previous experience in coordinating or developing research projects is particularly appreciated.

With strong analytical, conceptualisation, and organisational skills, you are able to manage complex tasks autonomously while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

You are also motivated by fieldwork, including recruitment and contact with participants, and appreciate human interactions within research projects.

You are proficient in French and English, both written and spoken.
