Development Opportunities

Woodworkers produce and assemble components and products. They are familiar with the machines, tools, and materials necessary for this work. As a woodworker, you will work intensively with the raw material wood.

Your Training

In the two-year vocational training, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge about wood, forests, and the wood industry. You will learn how to handle various machines. Additionally, you will learn how to implement regulations for the protection of the environment, health, and safety at work. The theoretical knowledge is provided to you as an aspiring woodworker during the weekly vocational school day. You will acquire practical skills through your activities at the Erlenhof. In inter-company courses, you will deepen your knowledge about tools, machines, forklifts, and chainsaws.

Development Opportunities

• Individual further education and specialist training from the Swiss Wood Construction Association
• Further training as a wood industry specialist, carpenter, or other professions in the wood sector

These are the prerequisites you bring

Are you at least 15 years old, technically skilled, and physically fit? The profession of woodworker is right for you if you also meet the following prerequisites:

• Completed primary school
• Enjoy working with wood
• Adaptability; working conditions in the dynamic wood industry are constantly changing
• Simple calculations with length measurements are no problem
• You act independently
• ... and very importantly, you are a team player
