Purpose of the Job
Primarily focus on the global development and maintenance of customs and trade compliance across the Sonova Group with focus on Execution and raising challenges to the relevant business owners.
More About the role
- Ensure Global Compliance: Lead development, documentation, and implementation of customs, trade, and export control processes (including tariffs, rules of origin, VAT, embargoes, sanctions, and export declarations).
- Policy & Process Ownership: Create, monitor, and maintain global SOPs, work instructions, customs & trade manuals, and system/tool blocking processes as Global Process Owner (GPO).
- Risk & Training: Conduct compliance risk assessments, tailor customs & trade programs, and provide awareness/training for employees and business partners.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Track and interpret legal, regulatory, and trade developments (e.g., supply chain disclosure, antiboycott laws) and update stakeholders accordingly.
- Cross-Functional & External Support: Interface with legal, tax, logistics, and external partners (brokers, vendors, agencies) to ensure smooth imports/exports and compliance.
- Communication & Representation: Serve as the primary point of contact for global customs & trade, driving communication strategies, supporting audits, and engaging with third-party suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
More about you
- Bachelor’s degree; preferably working knowledge of any specific customs and trade/export control tools.
- 5+ years of experience in global customs and trade; in-depth knowledge of country specific customs & trade regulations (e.g. China, Vietnam) is a plus.
- Several years of in-depth expertise in customs tariff classification, customs preference management, international customs and export control law, VAT law in cross-border trade of goods.
- Fluent in English and German, other languages a plus
- Strong computer and internet skills, as well as familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
- Strong project management skills preferred (including status updates, cross-functional collaboration).
