About the job
The Early Intervention Office is a cooperation between the City of Winterthur and the Office for Youth and Career Counselling of the Canton of Zurich. It supports families with preschool children who require early intervention, advises parents, and mediates suitable support services. It networks specialist offices and services for preschool children and organises further training for those responsible for early intervention facilities.
To support our team, we are looking for a committed individual as an Outreach Social Worker with immediate effect or by arrangement. The position is fixed-term until at least the end of January 2027, with the option of extension.
Your tasks
- Outreach counselling, support and information provision for parents with preschool children in challenging situations (mostly with a migration background), focusing on developmental topics
- Triage and referral of children to suitable support services as well as parents to support and educational services
- Advice and support for specialist offices or those responsible for services in individual cases
- Collaboration in the further development of early intervention in Winterthur
- Participation and collaboration in events of the Early Intervention Office, networking with direct interface partners in the City of Winterthur
Your profile
- Degree in social work/social pedagogy (FH/HF) or an equivalent qualification
- Developmental psychological knowledge of early childhood, further training in the early intervention field
- Enjoyment in working with preschool children and their parents in a variety of situations as well as knowledge of the City of Winterthur and its early intervention services
- High transcultural competence as well as foreign language skills
- Strong social skills, ability to work in a team, resilience and communication skills
