For its Environment Service, the Municipality of Mont-sur-Lausanne is advertising a position for a:
100% Landscaper
Purpose of the role:
Close collaboration and support to the team leader, being proactive; participate in the maintenance and quantitative and qualitative improvement of the municipality's tree heritage; differentiated and nature-respecting maintenance of the green spaces in the municipal area (flower beds, trees, shrubs, wildflower meadows, lawns, sports turf).
Tasks:
- Maintain, according to best practices, trees and shrubs on municipal plots, aiming to increase canopy cover, while ensuring safety constraints and respecting clearances along roads and paths…;
- Independently maintain herbaceous surfaces (sports areas, public parks, municipal buildings);
- Plant native trees and shrubs;
- Data entry of the tree heritage and its physiological state in partnership with the team leader;
- Arrange flower beds and perennial plant beds in designated areas;
- Create landscaping favourable to biodiversity (ponds, small structures, seeding…);
- Plant native trees and shrubs;
- Prune hedges, ornamental trees and shrubs according to best practices;
- Monitor and take measures to control invasive neophytes within the municipal territory;
- Ensure urban cleanliness and clean parks and walking areas;
- Clean and repair tools;
- Maintain and repair equipment in winter (benches, tables);
- Set up equipment for events, create and install Christmas decorations;
- Clear snow and salt roads and paths; participate in snow patrols;
- Provide professional and supportive guidance to apprentices.
Your profile:
- Holder of a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a horticulturist-landscaper or equivalent training/experience;
- Solid experience in tree pruning and trimming (climbing, free-standing and architectural) with mastery of physiological risks in urban environments;
- Excellent knowledge of plants (native and exotic trees and shrubs) and invasive neophytes;
- Strong awareness of sustainable management of tree heritage and biodiversity development;
- Interest and skills in bed arrangement and lawn maintenance;
- Category B driving licence;
- Resident within the municipal area or within a 20-minute radius.
Additional assets:
- Good physical endurance;
- Contribute to the development of differentiated green space management;
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather, in tune with the seasons;
- Irregular hours in winter and availability in case of snow and/or salting of public areas, including weekends and public holidays if necessary.
