About the job
The State Treasury is the central accounting office of the canton. It finalises the annual accounts and supports the preparation of the budget with an Integrated Task and Financial Plan. The State Treasury is the contact point for administrative offices on all accounting matters.
For the management of the State Treasury, we are looking for a
Head of Finance and Accounting 70–100 %
from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement, based in Glarus.
Tasks
- Professional leadership and further development of the state accounting
- Management of a small team
- Management and finalisation of the cantonal accounting including subsidiary ledgers according to the regulations of the cantonal budget law (FHG and HRM2)
- Participation in budgeting and financial planning
- Responsible for VAT returns and related queries
- Ensuring internal liquidity
- Preparation of financial statistics
- Support and further development of the Abacus financial accounting system
- Participation in projects
Requirements
- Federal diploma in finance and accounting or university of applied sciences degree with a focus on accounting
- Professional experience in accounting and ideally knowledge of public finances
- Confidence in balance sheets and financial statements
- Good Excel user skills and IT affinity
- Experience with Abacus is an advantage
- Analytical skills and interconnected thinking
- Structured, precise and reliable working method
- Service orientation and resilience
- Time flexibility during the year-end closing and budget phases
