About the job
Technical Specialist Makerspace and Physics 70 - 90%The Kantonsschule Uetikon am See (KUE) is a young school in its development phase. It offers a lower gymnasium level and five of the Zurich Matura profiles (classical languages, mathematical-natural sciences, modern languages, economics-law, and philosophical-pedagogical-psychological). Around 800 pupils and 120 teachers and administrative staff currently belong to KUE. We are a young, agile team and enjoy trying out new things. In about six years, KUE will move into its new building on the site of the former chemical factory directly on Lake Zurich.
We are looking for a technically skilled and versatile person to immediately or by arrangement manage our Makerspace and support the Physics department.
Your tasks
The position combines three diverse areas of work: You support the Physics department in technical and administrative matters, manage and develop our existing Makerspace, and contribute to the design and equipment of the future Makerspace in the new building by the lake. Your tasks include:
- preparing, setting up, and further developing physical experiments as well as maintaining devices and machines in the Makerspace and workshop
- advising and practically supporting teachers and pupils with experiments, prototypes, and their own technical projects
- jointly further developing the Makerspace and workshop, testing new technologies, and contributing your own ideas
- developing and documenting device instructions, safety regulations, and practical workflows
- procuring, managing, and inventorying devices, tools, and consumables
Your profile
For us, less important than a specific qualification is the combination of solid technical understanding, practical experience, willingness to learn, and joy in tinkering. You bring:
- a technical or craft-based basic education, for example as a physics laboratory technician, polymechanic, automation technician, or electronics technician, or a comparable qualification
- ideally a further technical education, for example at a higher technical school or university of applied sciences
- several years of professional experience
- an independent, reliable, and solution-oriented working style
- a strong affinity for technology, electronics, and digital manufacturing
- pedagogical skills and enjoyment in practically imparting knowledge and supporting young people in their own projects
Our offer
You can expect a varied and responsible role at a young secondary school. You will have the opportunity to actively help shape a Makerspace in the school environment and accompany its further development at the new location from the start. The position combines technology, education, project work, and design and offers plenty of room for your own ideas and initiatives. You will work closely with the Physics department and other teachers and be in direct contact with pupils.
The part-time workload allows for increased presence during the semester. The resulting extra hours can be compensated during school holidays.
