Professor for Industrial AI (80 - 100%)

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW stands for excellent applied research, practice-oriented teaching and strong partnerships with business and society. For the Institute for Business Engineering (IBE), we are looking for a committed and entrepreneurial-minded individual to strategically shape and further develop the field of Industrial AI.
Your Tasks
- You develop innovative and practice-relevant research topics in the field of Industrial AI and actively build collaborations with industry and research partners
- You successfully acquire third-party funding and write grant applications for national and international programmes
- You lead research projects and are responsible for their successful implementation
- You contribute your expertise to the further development of the institute – especially in the areas of Industrial AI, AI in the Supply Chain and Smart Factory
- You design and conduct teaching events in initial and continuing education and supervise student projects
- You actively promote young researchers and support staff as a mentor and coach
Your Profile:
- University degree (Master’s or higher) in a technical or business field, for example industrial engineering or mechanical engineering
- Proven expertise in Industrial AI
- Sound knowledge at the interface of technology, computer science and business – especially in organisation and processes
- At least 5 years of professional experience in industry, of which at least 3 years in production or operations
- Experience in the digitalisation of production processes (OT) – from machine and plant level to planning systems and ERP
- Demonstrable experience in the digital transformation of organisations
- Experience in leading teams as well as in interdisciplinary projects
- Enthusiasm for innovation, applied research and knowledge transfer
- High initiative, willingness to shape as well as analytical and structured working methods
- Very good communication and presentation skills
- Enjoyment of teaching as well as the role of mentor and coach
- Team-oriented personality with high social competence
- Higher education didactic qualification or willingness to acquire this within the first years
