Head of Legal Service 60 - 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, and the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Probation and Enforcement Services (BVD) are one of seven main departments of JuWe and are responsible for the enforcement of custodial sentences and court-ordered measures as well as probation assistance. They make an important contribution to crime prevention and the social integration of offenders.
The legal service of Enforcement Area 2 (V2) provides advisory and support services on legal issues related to the core business of V2 and thus supports the lawful implementation of criminal sanctions, especially in the area of outpatient and inpatient measure enforcement. The team consists of three people, including management and auditing.
We are looking for a socially competent, assertive, and resilient individual to lead the legal service.
This is your field of activity
- Together with your team, you ensure lawful and professional fulfilment of tasks throughout V2: you accompany and advise employees as well as other departments of Enforcement Area 2 on legal matters – especially regarding outpatient and inpatient measures, probation assistance, activity, contact and area bans, and therapeutic substitute measures
- You pass on your expertise in a practical manner at internal and external information events and training sessions
- You lead the legal service of Enforcement Area 2 professionally, personally, and organisationally and develop it further together with your team
- You take on tasks of the area management with a focus on measure law and represent it in working groups and committees
- As a representative of Enforcement Area 2, you maintain exchange with higher-level legal bodies as well as external partners
- Through your participation in projects, you actively shape the further development of your department, the area, and the Probation and Enforcement Services
What you bring with you
- After completing your Master’s degree in law, you have gained several years of professional experience in the field (including court experience) or in a similar role. Ideally, you bring leadership skills. Knowledge of administrative law, working with offenders, forensic psychiatry and/or case management is an advantage
- You can express yourself flawlessly in German both in writing and orally and are proficient with the MS Office suite
- You have an interest in forensic psychiatry and possess advisory skills
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination between various partners is something you are comfortable with. You work efficiently, precisely, and systematically
- You enjoy working with different professional groups and meet them at eye level
