Supervisor / Caregiver, fixed-term 80 - 100%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and, with 399 places, the largest closed JVA in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
To support our team, we are looking for a committed, responsible and motivated individual to start immediately or by arrangement. You can expect a varied and meaningful role as a Supervisor / Caregiver in the entry group (EG) of the security-oriented special enforcement. The position is limited to seven months.
This is your field of activity
- You care for, occupy and accompany incarcerated persons within the daily structures and are their contact person for concerns
- You ensure an orderly daily routine, ensure compliance with and enforcement of safety and service regulations, and recognise and manage critical situations
- You participate in leisure and group activities of the incarcerated persons and accompany them
- You take on administrative tasks such as writing reports, documenting events, keeping the daily journal, and other administrative duties
This is what you bring
- You have completed a vocational apprenticeship with a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ), a (specialised) Matura, a specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification. Ideally, you already have professional experience in a similar care function
- You have very good oral and written German skills. Knowledge of another language is an advantage
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are both mentally and physically resilient and can manage changing working hours, including on-call and weekend duties, well alongside your other commitments
- You have an impeccable reputation, i.e. no entries in the criminal or debt enforcement register, and are at least 25 years old
