Responsible for finance. Further developing the UZB.

The University Centre for Dental Medicine Basel (UZB) combines patient care, academic teaching and research under one roof. With around 300 employees, approximately 100,000 treatments per year and a turnover of about CHF 40 million, the UZB provides its services, among other things, on the basis of service agreements with the University of Basel and the Canton of Basel-Stadt. We are looking for a CFO with convincing business and financial expertise. As a member of the executive board, entrepreneurial thinking and action are required in addition to financial knowledge in order to manage and further develop the company as a whole.

Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for the financial management of the UZB – from budgeting, liquidity and financial planning to accounting and financial reporting according to Swiss GAAP FER, as well as controlling – and ensure meaningful, tiered reporting to our service providers, the executive board and the board of directors.
• You secure financing and liquidity, further develop risk management and the internal control system, and act as the contact person for the audit committee of the board of directors and the auditors.
• You lead and develop the finance (around 10 employees), IT (3), technical services (3) and purchasing departments with four directly reporting managers and promote collaboration across professional boundaries.
• You advance the digitalisation and further development of processes and systems and play a key role in the ongoing evaluation of a new ERP solution.
• As a member of the executive board, you also bear overall corporate responsibility and actively contribute to corporate development issues.
• You advise the CEO and the executive board as a sparring partner on all business management matters and develop business cases for new offers and projects.
• You create decision-making bases for dialogue with internal and external stakeholders in a public-law environment and maintain contact with relevant stakeholders.

Your professional background

• You have substantial know-how in finance and controlling as well as experience in a responsible financial management role.
• You have completed a (technical) university degree in business administration or are an expert in accounting and controlling; experience with Swiss GAAP FER and SAP is an advantage.
• You have leadership experience, are accustomed to participating in decision-making processes and subsequently implementing decisions consistently within your area of responsibility. You communicate in a nuanced and transparent manner, work pragmatically and combine financial diligence with openness to new solutions.
• You have fluent German and good English skills.
• You are interested in digitalisation and responsible handling of data and new technologies.
• Experience in healthcare or a public-law organisation is welcome but not a prerequisite.
