Are you interested in modern communication tools? Do you want to work in sales and in direct contact with customers? Then apply for an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk at Jakob Rope Systems.

As an apprentice commercial clerk, you are the all-round talent in our office. You gain insight into the areas of purchasing, export, sales (architecture and rope and lifting technology), forwarding, finance and accounting. You organize meetings, trips, and also events. You support sales and communicate with customers and partners worldwide.

In cooperation with purchasing, you ensure that our production always has the necessary resources available. You ship goods to our customers and partners. For this, you select the appropriate mode of transport, prepare the necessary shipping documents, and handle customs formalities.

In accounting, you manage payment transactions with creditors and assist with various closings. You work on local and international projects. You can participate in exciting field assignments. This way, you get to know our products up close at their places of use. Internal product training provides you with the necessary knowledge about our product world.

We offer one apprenticeship position as a commercial clerk each year.

Your training

• 3 years
• Practice: 3 – 4 days per week in the training company
• School: 2 days/week in the 1st and 2nd year, 1 day/week in the 3rd year
• Inter-company courses: 8 – 10 days during the entire apprenticeship
• Industry affiliation: Services and administration

At Jakob Rope Systems, you take on important and responsible tasks from the start. Trainers, practical instructors, and all other employees support you. After your training, many career opportunities are open to you. The path to a vocational baccalaureate and later studies is also possible.

Are you fascinated by rope and net constructions that you encounter in the construction industry, cable car construction, on sports and playgrounds, or in forestry and agriculture? Then come to Jakob Rope Systems. Here you learn the techniques behind these products: splicing, knotting, braiding, and more. Your craftsmanship counts and advances our customers.

As a textile technologist in rope and lifting technology, you calculate and produce textile and wire ropes. You process these into products such as slings, loops, and nets. You independently take over setting, operating, and monitoring various production machines. You learn how ropes, chains, and textile straps are inspected and restored to a safe condition. You take responsibility for the quality of our products.

We offer two apprenticeship positions as textile technologists each year:

Your training

• 3 years
• Practice: 3 – 4 days per week in the training company
• School: 2 days/week in the 1st year, 1 day/week in the 2nd and 3rd years
• Vocational school: Swiss Textile Vocational School STF in Zurich
• Inter-company courses: 24 days

Your prospects

The versatility of the profession, the combination of using large machines and fine craftsmanship, opens many possibilities for you. Wire ropes and accessories have a huge range of applications, from architecture to industry to traditional fields of rope and lifting technology such as forestry work. Accordingly, you learn to handle many different materials and can later work in various areas, whether in construction, conveyor technology, or logistics.
