About the job
Development, programming, testing and maintenance of modular, robust firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers in industrial automation and mechatronic systems
Development and maintenance of reusable firmware and software libraries as well as industrial communication interfaces, especially OPC UA, Modbus RTU/TCP, CANopen and Ethernet TCP/IP
Ensuring reliable communication and integration between electronics, microcontrollers and higher-level automation systems
Planning and execution of verifications, system tests and simulation-based validations as well as development of automated test solutions
Analysis of measurement and production data, conducting experiments and preparing results for targeted fault analysis and system optimisation
Support of prototype development, hardware commissioning, low-level debugging and transition of prototypes into series production
Technical support and continuous development of existing products throughout the entire product lifecycle
Participation in hardware development, circuit design, component selection and system architecture
Responsibility for the application of the Renesas Synergy Software Package (SSP)
Close collaboration with software, hardware and product management teams as well as active participation in architecture and code reviews
Monitoring new technologies and identifying innovation potentials to develop future-oriented solutions
Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, requirement specifications as well as test and implementation documentation
Ensuring compliance with relevant legal and normative requirements, especially the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)
Completed degree (Bachelor or Master) in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field
At least 5 years of professional experience in the development and testing of embedded firmware/software and hardware
Very good knowledge of C/C++ for ARM-based real-time microcontrollers as well as practical experience with embedded Linux platforms, e.g. Yocto
Solid experience with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, CANopen, Ethernet TCP/IP and Modbus RTU/TCP
Experience with Git and Azure DevOps as well as a good understanding of modern software development and version control processes
Experience in test automation and data analysis, ideally with Python
Good knowledge in network analysis and troubleshooting, especially with Wireshark and serial console tools
Experience with technical documentation, requirement specifications as well as FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ test protocols
Knowledge of process control systems, data acquisition and sensor integration, ideally in the field of bioprocess technology
Knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines such as EMC, Low Voltage and Machinery Directives as well as GxP, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 is an advantage
Enthusiasm for innovation and openness to new technologies
Very good English skills in spoken and written form as well as German skills at least at B1 level
