Head of Department Overall Mobility 80 - 100%Do you want to develop the transport system in the Canton of Zurich holistically and in the long term? In the Overall Mobility Department of the Office for Mobility, we plan the future transport system across all modes and means of transport. In coordination with Settlement and Environment, we develop overall traffic concepts, prepare agglomeration programmes, and coordinate their implementation. We are also the central coordinating body for freight transport and logistics issues. In spatial planning, we handle all transport topics and significantly shape them. The overall perspective is always crucial – this is how we create the planning foundations for future-oriented mobility in the Canton of Zurich.
We are looking for you as Head of Overall Mobility from 1 June 2027 or by arrangement.
Your main tasks
- Leading the Overall Mobility Department with a total of ten employees as well as their professional, personnel, and organisational development
- Responsibility for the strategic overall traffic planning of the Canton of Zurich and management of major planning projects such as agglomeration programmes, regional overall traffic concepts, and area planning
- Representing the overall traffic interests of the canton in spatial, utilisation, and sectoral planning procedures as well as towards administration, politics, and external stakeholders
- Participation in the management of the Office for Mobility and co-responsibility for its strategic development
Our requirements
- University degree (Master's or Doctorate) in transport planning, spatial planning, civil engineering, or a comparable field
- Several years of professional and leadership experience, ideally in the transport or spatial planning environment, as well as a strong understanding of political and internal administrative processes
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills as well as enjoyment in collaborating with diverse stakeholders
- Networked and analytical thinking, high initiative, and assertiveness
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form; English skills are required, French skills are an advantage
