For the Coordination Division for Higher Education and Law of the General Secretariat of the Conference of Cantonal Directors of Education (EDK), we are seeking as of 1 January 2027 or by agreement a Head of Coordination Division for Higher Education (80-100%)

Information about the employer

In Switzerland, the cantons bear the primary responsibility for education and culture. They coordinate their work at the inter-cantonal level. This task is carried out by the 26 cantonal directors of education. Based on the school concordat, they form a political authority: the Conference of Cantonal Directors of Education (EDK). The General Secretariat manages the affairs of the conference. The working languages are German and French.

Your tasks

• Participation in the management team
• Operational, financial, personnel and professional leadership of the Coordination Division for Higher Education
• Inter-cantonal coordination in the higher education sector and collaboration with the federal government on higher education policy issues
• Inter-cantonal coordination in the area of teacher education and therapeutic-pedagogical professions
• Representation of the EDK’s interests in committees and working groups at inter-cantonal and national levels
• Preparation and responsibility for political matters from the coordination division for the EDK committees
• Implementation and further development of inter-cantonal and international diploma recognition law
• Design of workflows and digital processes in compliance with the applicable legal bases for administrative procedures

Your profile

• You have several years of leadership experience.
• You possess sound knowledge of administrative law and the functioning of public administration.
• You have good knowledge of the Swiss higher education sector, especially teacher training and pedagogical-therapeutic professions.
• A solid network in the education sector is an advantage.
• You have native-level proficiency in German or French with very good knowledge of the other language; knowledge of Italian and English is an advantage.
• You bring very good editorial and communication skills.
• Experience in designing workflows, digital processes and project management is an advantage.
