About the job
Caretaker – with Federal Specialist Certificate Caretaker 100%You ensure that everything runs smoothly with us – we ensure that your work has an impact.
The Vocational School Winterthur is a lively place of work and learning with around 3800 learners and over 200 teachers. To ensure that our learners and staff feel comfortable in our five school buildings and that school operations run smoothly, we need people who are proactive, think ahead, and keep an overview.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed individual as a caretaker with a federal specialist certificate caretaker from 01.02.2027
Your task – versatile, responsible and right in the middle of school operations
As part of our team, you will play a key role in ensuring that our buildings and facilities are always safe, functional, and well maintained. You will undertake a variety of maintenance and value-preserving tasks in our five school buildings as well as in the outdoor area and, together with the team, ensure the daily operational running.
You will not only be responsible for professional building maintenance but also carry out control, maintenance, and inspection tasks, take care of proper disposal, manage storage, and support various internal services. We can also count on you in special situations: you perform winter services, pay attention to accident prevention, safety, and provide first aid.
Another important part of your role is the supervision and promotion of learners as a practical trainer. You enjoy passing on your expertise and thus contribute to the training of the next generation of professionals.
As a committed and responsible individual, you also support the domestic operations management and deputise for them when necessary. Willingness to work early and late shifts as well as on-call duties (night, weekend, and public holidays) is also part of this varied role.
What you bring
You have completed vocational training as a specialist in operational maintenance EFZ or a craft or technical apprenticeship with EFZ. Ideally, you hold the federal specialist certificate as a caretaker or are willing to obtain it within the next two years. Additionally, you have training as a vocational trainer and the qualification as a safety officer for fire protection (GVZ SiBe). A first aid course including resuscitation and a category B driving licence are prerequisites.
For this responsible role, you have at least three years of professional and leadership experience. Experience in a school environment is an advantage.
You personally convince through your reliable, independent, and careful working style. You like to get stuck in, work precisely and efficiently, and keep an overview even in hectic situations. At the same time, you are helpful, communicative, a team player, and flexible. You enjoy developing yourself further and are willing to continue your education according to the school's requirements.
Good German language skills in spoken and written form as well as willingness to work early and late shifts and on-call duties complete your profile.
What we offer you
With us, you can expect more than just "building maintenance." You work in a varied and lively environment where no day is quite the same. Your work lays the foundation for around 3800 learners and numerous staff to shape their school day in a safe, functioning, and pleasant environment.
You take on a versatile and responsible role with scope for creativity, work in a motivated team, and are in close contact with different areas of our school. You can apply your professional skills, take responsibility, and at the same time pass on your knowledge.
At BFS Winterthur, we cultivate a culture where appreciation, care, and openness are highly valued. We treat each other with respect, support one another, and are open to new ideas and developments. Together with you, we want to continue to nurture and develop this culture.
We value good collaboration and a working environment where initiative, commitment, and mutual support are appreciated. At the same time, we offer you the opportunity to develop professionally and personally and to continue your education according to the school's requirements.
The employment conditions are based on cantonal regulations and offer you the attractive framework conditions of the Canton of Zurich.
If you enjoy ensuring that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, like a varied working day, and want to actively contribute your expertise to our school operations, we look forward to hearing from you.
