About the job
Itten+Brechbühl AG (IB) is a leading Swiss architecture and general planning company with international experience in complex construction projects. We employ around 400 staff at seven locations throughout Switzerland.
IB is committed to a responsible and trustworthy use of artificial intelligence. Our goal is to consistently apply AI across all business areas, from design and planning to project and construction management. With this, IB aims to actively shape the technological transformation of the Swiss construction industry while promoting a culture of open knowledge exchange.
To strengthen our design team with a focus on AI-supported architecture, we are looking for an intern at our Zurich location:
Intern Architect - Design with CAD/BIM & AI 100%
The internship position is located at the interface between architectural design, digital planning methods, and artificial intelligence.
In collaboration with our design teams, current AI models and digital tools are used to develop architectural projects within the framework of competitions and study commissions. The central question is how architectural thinking can be combined with new technological approaches and how the design process can be meaningfully extended by AI.
What to expect:
Participation in competitions and studies focusing on testing / pilot application of current AI tools for architectural design, especially for creating and editing 3D, CAD, and BIM models in Rhino and Revit
Testing / pilot application of advanced visualisation workflows on our internally developed platform
Work on integrating information from competition programmes, standards, building regulations, GIS data, and other sources into the generation and editing of CAD/BIM geometries
Contributing to the design of partially autonomous, agent-based (i.e. AI-supported) workflows for selected tasks in the design process
Documentation of the insights gained
What you bring:
At least 4 semesters at a university of architecture (Bachelor level)
High design sensitivity
Strong affinity for digital technologies and innovative design methods
Good knowledge of CAD and Adobe CS
Rhino and Revit skills are an advantage
Good German and English skills, spoken and written
Curiosity as well as an independent and structured way of working
Interest in experimental and agile working methods with rapid iterations
Programming skills, for example in Python, are an advantage
Experience with visual programming is an advantage, e.g. Grasshopper / knowledge in computational design
Experience with generative image and visualisation workflows is an advantage, e.g. ComfyUI
Interest in technical interfaces, automations, and agent-based systems
What you can look forward to:
Creative and open working atmosphere
Flat hierarchies, numerous events, and interesting training opportunities
Familiar and dynamic team
High degree of creative freedom
Exciting and high-quality projects in the architectural environment
Central workplace and a nationwide network spread over 7 locations
