About the position

For a growing, internationally active company with several subsidiaries in Switzerland and Europe, we are looking for a personality for group controlling at the headquarters. The headquarters is located in the city of Zurich and is very well accessible by public transport. In this role, you are responsible for group-wide reporting and planning across all companies. You do not just deliver numbers, but the explanation behind them - variance analyses, business cases, decision-making bases for company management.

What distinguishes this position from a classic controlling role: You do not work with a system maintained by someone else, but design it yourself. Very strong Excel skills including VBA are not a side note in the profile, but the craft. Experience with IBM Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics is a clear advantage - those who do not have it but have the willingness and technical affinity to learn the system will be trained.

Your tasks

Reporting & Closings

- Group-wide reporting: monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements across all companies

- Analysis and commentary on financial key figures, variance analyses, derivation of concrete recommendations for action

- Preparation of management reports and presentations for company management

Planning & Control

- Budget, forecast and medium-term planning across all units

- Economic assessment of investment calculations and business cases

- Systematic monitoring, evaluation and verification of measures to improve results

Systems & Automation

- Operation and further development of the planning and reporting system IBM Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics

- Automation of recurring evaluations with Excel and VBA

- Contact person for the decentralised controlling units in specialist and system matters

- Collaboration in the integration of newly acquired companies into the reporting and planning landscape

Your profile

Professional requirements

- Completed business administration education (FH / university) with a focus on finance / controlling or equivalent qualification

- Several years of experience in group controlling, ideally in a corporate structure with multiple companies

- Very strong Excel skills including macros and VBA - mandatory

- Practical experience with IBM Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics is an advantage; alternatively experience with a comparable consolidation or planning tool

- Confident handling of an ERP system; SAP FI/CO is an advantage but not a must

- Sound knowledge of accounting according to Swiss Code of Obligations; IFRS knowledge is an advantage

- Fluent German, good English

- Strong communication skills: you explain numbers even to people who do not think in numbers
