On behalf of our client, an internationally operating Swiss life sciences company develops and manufactures active ingredients and biotechnological solutions for pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare companies, we are recruiting a Head of Warehouse & Logistics (m/f/d).
The role is a permanent position offers a unique opportunity to shape new processes, lead and develop a growing team, and contribute to SAP EWM integration within a dynamic pharmaceutical environment.
Description
The Head of Warehouse & Logistics (m/f/d) involves leading warehouse and logistics operations while playing a key part in establishing Swissmedic-licensed, future-ready logistics processes for new buildings as part of the company's growth project, by carrying out the following task area:
- Leads and develops a team of Logistics Experts and Logistics Operators.
- Oversees the local SAP EWM implementation at the site
- Represents the warehouse during regulatory inspections and customer audits, and actively supports customer visits and presentations
- Manages all warehousing and material management activities, including receiving, issuing, storage, handling (disposition, consumption, and process order bookings), allocation of direct materials for manufacturing, and material scrapping
- Drives continuous improvement of warehouse processes to ensure compliant storage, transportation, and distribution, with a strong focus on time and cost efficiency
- Ensures clear and effective communication between management, stakeholders, and Global Engineering
- Takes responsibility for the operational takeover of the warehouse, including the Automated High Bay Warehouse. Leads Swissmedic readiness activities, represents operations during audits together with subject matter experts, and ensures preparation of all relevant SOPs and proper training of staff
Profile
In order to be considered for the role, the ideal candidate should have:
- Successfully completed an apprenticeship in warehousing, along with relevant further education or a technical qualification or academic background in logistics (vocational or university level)
- Professional experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry under GMP conditions, including proven direct line management and leadership responsibility
- Strong hands-on experience in logistics, with a particular focus on warehousing processes, ideally within a manufacturing or production site
- Practical experience working with SAP WM (EWM)
- Fluent in both English and German (written and spoken)
- Hands-on leader with strong people-management skills, able to motivate and guide teams in a structured environment
- Well-organized and proactive, with a practical, solution-oriented mindset and strong time-management skills
- Reliable, accountable, and adaptable, with clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
