The technology group Georg Fischer (GF) in Schaffhausen looks back on a history of over 200 years. The GF corporate archive is one of the most traditional business archives and is listed as an archive of national importance in the Swiss cultural property protection inventory. The archive is managed by the Iron Library, a foundation of GF. The Iron Library is one of the world’s largest private specialised libraries in the field of the history of technology.

We offer an internship for initial practical experience after studies or in preparation for a PhD study. During this, you will get to know the diverse activities in a business archive and a scientific specialised library.

From 1 April 2026 or by arrangement

Your tasks

• Collaboration in all archival and library areas
• Assistance with digitisation
• Research, user support, answering enquiries
• Assistance with activities and events of the Iron Library and Corporate Archive

Your profile

• Completed Matura or Bachelor’s degree

• Independent and precise working method
• Confident German, very good English skills

• Enjoyment of historical contexts and broad general knowledge

Archive and library jointly maintain the historical and cultural heritage of the GF Group and are part of the economic and social history tradition of Switzerland. Both are located at the Paradies Monastery Estate in Schlatt (TG), near Schaffhausen. This is the main workplace; another workplace is the GF headquarters in Schaffhausen.
