The AR Hospital Network
The Appenzell Ausserrhoden Hospital Network, with the Herisau Acute Hospital and the AR Psychiatric Centre in Herisau, ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.
We are looking for
For the Anaesthesiology Department under the leadership of Mr Markus Bischoff, we are seeking a senior physician (80–100%) from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Personal effectiveness in our department as a person and physician – you contribute to ensuring that our patients are always in the best hands with us
- You ensure compliance with our standards and develop them further together with us – with professionalism, responsibility, and exemplary conduct
- You accompany our patients empathetically and competently throughout the entire perioperative phase
- You actively contribute to the training of our colleagues and nursing staff and bring your expertise to the interdisciplinary environment as well as to internal training sessions
Your profile
- Curiosity and sustained enthusiasm for our specialty
- A Swiss federal or recognised specialist title in anaesthesiology
- Several years of professional experience at specialist level
- Sound knowledge of all common general and regional anaesthesia procedures including modern pain therapy
- Willingness for personal development and shaping the clinic
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form (native speaker or at least level C1)
- Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration, strong communication skills, and a patient-centred attitude
- Personal flexibility and resilience
