About the job

Paediatric cardiology is a department of paediatrics at the University Children’s Hospital of Basel (UKBB). The range of services includes all areas of non-invasive paediatric cardiology and is continuously further developed together as a team. To actively promote the interdisciplinarity of our specialty, there are specialised consultation hours in collaboration with prenatal medicine specialists from the Women’s Hospital, ACHD cardiologists for the transition of cardiological patients, as well as electrophysiologists from the Cardiology Department. Cardiac cross-sectional imaging using the latest technology is carried out in close cooperation with radiologists at UKBB and USB. In addition, there are numerous clinical and scientific collaborations with all paediatric and surgical specialist departments at UKBB. As part of the Bern–Basel Children’s Heart Network, catheter interventions and cardiac surgery are performed at the Inselspital Bern. Regular interdisciplinary heart conferences and joint case discussions promote close professional exchange and enable care at the highest level.

Your profile

• The position is suitable both for already recognised paediatric cardiologists and for colleagues in advanced training (at least two years). A structured one-year training in the field of non-invasive paediatric cardiology to obtain the specialist title can be completed at UKBB.
• High motivation as well as pronounced empathy in caring for children and adolescents with heart disease and their families
• Strong willingness to develop and qualify further in the predominantly outpatient and non-invasive paediatric cardiology field
• Participation in cardiological on-call duties
• Commitment to the training of students and doctors in paediatrics specialist training
• Integrative, committed personality with joy in interdisciplinary collaboration
