The Directorate for Security, Environment and Energy is committed to safety, protection and assistance, environmental protection, sustainable energy supply and is responsible for building permit procedures as well as the Bern Zoo. Protection and Rescue Bern unites the professional and militia fire brigades of the city of Bern, the Bern ambulance service and the civil protection organisation Bern plus. It operates the emergency call centres 118 and 144. The prevention and intervention areas of Protection and Rescue Bern provide the best possible safety and protection around the clock – in the federal city, the Bern agglomeration and the canton.
What you achieve
- You complete the 18-month training, which is divided into course and internship blocks
- You learn to handle the latest technical equipment to provide targeted help in emergencies involving people and animals
- You complete the course to become a professional firefighter with a federal certificate of competence
- After passing the exam, we offer you an interesting and varied job in 24-hour shift work for the well-being and protection of our population
- You have the opportunity to develop personally and professionally
What you bring
- Completed vocational training EFZ, Matura or higher education
- You are between 24 and 32 years old at the start of employment
- You hold driving licence categories B and C at the start of employment
- You are in very good health, have normal visual and hearing acuity and are physically and mentally resilient
- Your pronounced team skills and above-average commitment distinguish you
- You have very good German language skills in speaking and writing, good IT user skills and manual skills
- An impeccable reputation is essential
- Your application documents include at least a CV with references, a motivation letter, work certificates and diplomas, a copy of your driving licence, a criminal record extract and an IVZ register extract
