To strengthen our team, we are looking for a:
With over 1,200 positions in the wine cellar, the Bürgenstock Resort is one of the leading addresses for wine lovers from around the world. As Head Sommelier, you are responsible for the strategic direction and continuous development of our wine offering. You lead and inspire a dedicated sommelier team and set new standards in wine and hospitality culture with your expertise and passion.
What to expect:
- Design and continuous development of the wine lists as well as strategic alignment of the wine offering in close coordination with the Director of F&B
- Responsibility for wine purchasing for the entire resort, including supplier selection, price negotiations and contract management
- Advising our guests and customers on wine selection for events as well as active wine sales and conducting exclusive wine tastings
- Recruitment, leadership and development of a dedicated sommelier team as well as creating duty rosters
- Ensuring professional organisation and maintenance of the wine cellar as well as coordinating daily wine distribution to the outlets
- Responsibility for compliance with budget targets regarding turnover and cost of goods sold
- Conducting regular wine training for service staff and promoting a lived wine culture throughout the resort
Your profile
- Completed training in gastronomy or hospitality as well as certified further education as a sommelier at a recognised academy
- Several years of experience as a responsible sommelier in upscale gastronomy or luxury hospitality
- Fluent German and English skills, additional foreign languages are an advantage
- Profound knowledge of the interplay between food and beverages as well as pronounced culinary understanding
- High sense of responsibility, independent working style and enthusiasm for innovation, combined with flexibility and resilience
- Strong intercultural competence as well as experience in dealing with national and international guests and in leading teams
