The Office for Forests and Natural Hazards (UFP) is the cantonal specialised service for the forest and protection against natural hazards. The employees of the UFP are committed to meeting society's needs regarding the forest and ensuring sustainable forest management.
You ensure that the Graubünden forest
- is capable of protecting people, animals and infrastructure,
- is a habitat for various animal and plant species,
- is a supplier of raw materials such as wood, water and energy,
- can also serve as a place of rest and recreation for people in the future.
We are looking immediately or by agreement for a technical officer for forest data (GIS) (70-100%)

- As the GIS manager for the "forest status and development" sector, you are responsible for updating, harmonising and further developing our geodata.
- In collaboration with specialists, you calculate forest indicators and ensure their archiving and accessibility.
- You automate periodic calculations and modelling.
- Depending on your qualifications, you support the sector in analysing, interpreting and using digital data and indicators. You participate in interdisciplinary GIS projects.
- University or university of applied sciences degree in geoinformatics, computer science, data science, geography, forestry or a related field. Candidates with relevant professional experience and further training in GIS/IT as well as recent graduates are also welcome.
- Strong willingness to learn and interest in methodical analysis of complex problems, development of pragmatic solutions and rapid practical application of innovations.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, R and Python is an advantage.
- Initiative, reliability and solution-oriented working method
- Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage.
