The EOC, the multi-site hospital of Ticino, is present with its institutes throughout the entire cantonal territory for a total of 1,000 beds. The organisation effectively combines a local approach with an overall vision, guaranteeing the population a comprehensive and local hospital service, regardless of where the services are requested.

Thanks to the commitment and expertise of over 6,500 collaborators and their attention to human relations, the EOC ensures quality healthcare by caring for over 41,000 inpatients annually and providing over 600,000 outpatient consultations.

Profile

The EOC endocrinology and diabetology service guarantees, as its primary mission, specialist care for the entire Canton of Ticino and is therefore present at all the institute's locations. The service is also active at an academic level, within the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Italian Switzerland, and develops and manages research projects also in collaboration with external institutes.

At the EOC site in Lugano, the service is located at the Italian Hospital where specialist consultations are held daily, with particular reference to thyroid/parathyroid diseases and diabetes. The service also collaborates in the management of inpatients at the Civic Hospital with ad hoc consultations.

The physician works independently and at an interdisciplinary level, promoting the skills required by the role of Head Physician.

Necessary requirements

• degree/diploma in medicine and specialisation title in endocrinology or equivalent and related registration with MedReg before starting work.
• For doctors with foreign qualifications, recognition by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions MEBEKO and related registration with MedReg before starting work is mandatory;
• proven knowledge of the Italian language
• (required level at least B2) with related registration with MedReg
• before starting work, knowledge of the other national languages and English is desirable;
• proficiency in IT tools.
