About the job
The city of Illnau-Effretikon - located between Winterthur and Zurich - offers attractive conditions for its approximately 18,000 inhabitants with its rural and urban areas, hamlets, centres, and the historic village of Kyburg.
The Urban Drainage department of the city of Illnau-Effretikon ensures daily that everything flows smoothly. Our diverse area of responsibility includes around 20 special structures, a sewer network approximately 97 kilometres long, a stormwater treatment plant, as well as a modern wastewater treatment plant for around 30,000 inhabitants at the lowest point of Effretikon.
To reliably fulfil this important task in the future, we are looking to strengthen our team from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement with a committed individual as
- Monitoring operations through the use of the process control system (PCS)
- Maintenance, repair and installation of electrotechnical components
- Checking and calibration of all measurements
- Laboratory analyses (sludge and wastewater)
- Monitoring and maintenance of the public sewer system and special structures in the sewer network
- Contributing to the development of proposals for acquisitions and replacements
- Continuous professional development according to VSA/AWEL
- On-call and weekend duty (Saturday and Sunday)
- Have completed a vocational training at EFZ level and hold a category B driving licence.
- Hold a Federal Certificate of Competence as a wastewater treatment plant specialist or completed training as a wastewater operator with a VSA certificate – or are willing to complete one of these qualifications.
- Possess good knowledge of mechanical and electrotechnical processes and PC skills (MS Office/industrial control PCS).
- Appreciate an independent and quality-conscious working style.
- Maintain a cool head through your precise, clean working method, high sense of responsibility and resilience even in emergencies and disruptions.
- Carry environmental awareness at heart.
- Reside in the region due to deployments for urgent fault repairs outside regular working hours.
