Nurse HF 60 - 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly established Medical Service main department ensures the medical-somatic basic care for incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions of the Canton of Zurich. As a central organisational unit, it guarantees a harmonised and high-quality healthcare provision according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The remand prisons Horgen and Limmattal offer a total of 121 places and carry out remand and security detention. This department accepts incarcerated persons from detention centres throughout Switzerland who are dangerous to others or themselves or who have a high flight risk.
The enforcement prison Affoltern am Albis offers 65 places and executes custodial sentences and remaining sentences of up to 18 months, focused on the reintegration of the inmates.
For our health service, we are looking for a committed and dynamic personality by arrangement.
This is your area of responsibility
- Accompanying and supporting inmates in everyday life as well as in crisis situations
- First intervention in medical and psychiatric emergencies
- Organisation and collaboration in somatic, psychiatric and dental consultations
- Co-design and development of the three locations within the framework of the new medical main department by contributing your professional and social competence
- Participation and design in small working and project groups, also across locations.
- Point of contact for medical questions and emergencies as well as training of employees in health-related matters
- Co-responsibility for material and medication management as well as the administration of the in-house pharmacy
- Administrative tasks such as billing and correspondence with internal and external interfaces
- Taking over shifts from Monday to Friday in the medical service to ensure continuous care.
What you bring with you
- Completed training as a qualified nurse HF/FH, preferably with a focus on somatics
- SIMED experience is an advantage
- Interest in the care and support of incarcerated persons of various origins and nationalities
- Flexibility, personal responsibility and a high level of social competence
- Interest in continuously expanding your knowledge in other areas of healthcare
- Very good oral and written German skills, any additional language is an advantage
- Your life experience is a valuable asset: a minimum age of 25 years rounds off your profile
- You have a clean record; that is, a flawless reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
