Associate Scientist / Senior Laboratory Specialist

We are looking for a motivated Associate Scientist / Senior Laboratory Specialist to strengthen our Pilot Plant Bern team. In this role, you will take on a central function in the upscaling of development processes that will be implemented in our production facilities in the future, as well as in the execution and further development of established processes within the framework of lifecycle management. Within the Pilot Plant, we continuously work on optimising existing processes, with a particular focus on efficiency, robustness, and scalability.

MAIN TASKS

• Responsible for carrying out a variety of routine and non-routine plant/laboratory tasks in a facility classified as cleanroom class D.
• Practical focus: Independent operation, control, and cleaning of process plants and equipment (e.g. chromatography systems, ultra-/diafiltration systems, mobile vessels and other process plants). Performing minor method adjustments, manual operations such as column connection and buffer flushing.
• Documentation: Documentation or good documentation practice (GDP): documentation/control of results, creation/revision of batch documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Process implementation: Flexible setup and demand-based adjustment of process plants/setups according to specifications and in close coordination with supervisors.
• Independent execution of experiments and monitoring of the process flow, intervening when necessary.
• Carrying out and organising calibrations and maintenance as well as processing them in SAP.
• Performing analytical measurements.
• Preparation of buffer solutions and packing of chromatography columns.
• Support and training of less experienced employees.

Qualifications

• Laboratory technician training, bachelor’s degree, or comparable university degree in a relevant field. These qualifications are not mandatory if experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or food sector exists.
• Advantage: Work experience within cleanroom class D.
• Highly motivated and strong interpersonal skills.
• Team player, but also able to work independently.
• Goal-oriented approach.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel is an advantage.
• Solution-oriented working.
• Adaptability.
• Time flexibility (temporary shift models).
• Communication and organisational skills.
• Languages: Good German or English skills.
