Building Department Canton of Zurich

Specialist in Traffic Safety
Are you passionate about traffic safety and enjoy working at the interface between technology, data and practice? We offer you an exciting and responsible position in the Traffic Safety Unit of the Civil Engineering Office. With us, you will help shape safe cantonal roads together with project managers, road regions and the cantonal police.
Your tasks
You will be involved in the implementation of the Infrastructure Safety Instruments (ISSI) on cantonal roads. You will conduct Road Safety Audits (RSA) and Road Safety Inspections (RSI) and contribute to the impact monitoring of the measures. In the Veloexpress programme, you will accompany rapid safety measures for bicycle cluster accidents from analysis to implementation. You will advise project managers and road regions, respond to enquiries from the administration and the public, and support internal ISSI training sessions.
Your profile
It is important to us that you argue based on data and facts and communicate with different stakeholders on an equal footing. You are enthusiastic about measurably improving traffic safety through the application of infrastructure safety instruments. You have a qualification as a civil engineer, transport planner or geomatician (ETH, university or university of applied sciences), are familiar with GIS applications and are always open to new methods. Ideally, you are already trained as an auditor for Road Safety Audits (RSA) or willing to undergo the corresponding training.
What to expect
You choose us because we offer you meaningful work with a high degree of creative freedom. You will work in a well-established specialist team and contribute concretely with established instruments to reducing accidents on cantonal roads. Attractive further training opportunities – including training as an RSA auditor and RSI inspector.
