The Department of Fundamental Neurosciences of the University of Lausanne invites applications for a PhD student position in the research group of Prof. Hiroshi Ito. The Ito lab investigates the neural circuit mechanism for navigational planning and decision making. Contract length: 1 year, renewable, maximum 4 years.

Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will investigate the neural circuit mechanisms underlying goal-directed spatial navigation in rats. The project will employ multidisciplinary approaches including high-density multichannel recordings, pharmacogenetic and optogenetic manipulations, behavioral analyses, machine learning, and computational modeling.
Your qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic PhD student with the following qualifications:
• Strong interest in systems neuroscience
• Background or enthusiasm for statistics, engineering, and programming
• Eagerness to engage in behavioral neuroscience experiments
• Collaborative and enthusiastic mindset, with a passion for working in a highly interactive research environment
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
