About the job
The National Roads Area VI department of the Civil Engineering Office of the Canton of St.Gallen makes a significant contribution to the safety of the national roads in the cantons of Glarus, Thurgau and St.Gallen through its maintenance work. For this purpose, the area unit has four depots in Thal, Mels, Weesen and Oberbüren as well as two bases in St.Gallen and Müllheim.
For the Operations and Support area, we are looking for a
Project Manager Operations and Support (m/f/d)
at National Roads Area VI, St. Gallen location, from 1 October 2026 or by arrangement
Workload: 80-100%
Workplace: St.Gallen
What to expect
- Ensuring the quality-compliant implementation of operational maintenance (winter service, cleaning, green maintenance) according to the specifications of the Federal Roads Office (ASTRA)
- Advising and supporting depot and base managers in digitalisation and development projects
- Coordinating extraordinary measures to combat invasive neophytes as well as in the area of safety forestry
- Building and maintaining a network with authorities, expert committees and other relevant stakeholders
- Ensuring operating permits for shaft recycling vehicles in cooperation with the responsible cantonal authorities (new and re-certification)
- Close collaboration with internal specialists as well as promoting knowledge development and professional training of employees
- Contributing to the continuous optimisation of processes, standards and working methods in operational maintenance
What distinguishes you
- Technical or nature-related basic training with further education in project management
- Successfully completed diploma technician HF or equivalent qualification advantageous
- Several years of professional experience in a technical or operational environment
- Experience in coordinating projects and collaborating with various stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and confident appearance towards employees, authorities and external partners
- Structured, independent and solution-oriented working style with high personal responsibility and resilience
- High service and team orientation as well as interest in digitalisation and new specialist topics
