EPD Projectathon 2018 – KISIM is ready for the electronic patient record
CISTEC was represented at this year’s EPD Projectathon in Bern with the product KISIM. The conclusion is: KISIM is EPD ready.
More than 20 manufacturers – a total of over 100 experts – in one room, all with the goal of demonstrating the suitability and interoperability of their systems in the EPD context. This year’s EPD Projectathon was organised by eHealth Suisse and took place from 17 to 21 September 2018 at the Eventforum Bern. CISTEC was also represented at this event this year with four developers.
The purpose of the Projectathon is to verify the EPD implementation of systems from various manufacturers. In addition, the EPD specifications are to be checked for correctness and any errors and gaps corrected.
In the tests, individual functions (“transactions”) between two systems are first checked. In a second step, several systems from different manufacturers are connected and complete use cases are played through – for example, the publication of a document into a patient’s EPD.
CISTEC participated in the Projectathon with KISIM as Document Source and Document Consumer. During the tests, it was demonstrated that documents can be published from KISIM into the EPD, as well as searched for and downloaded from a patient’s record. All required security mechanisms such as two-factor authentication, authorisation, and encrypted data transmission were used.
Positive, besides the result, was especially the uncomplicated and efficient collaboration in the room. All attendees always supported each other as best as possible with the aim of making all participants’ systems fit for the EPD.
KISIM now provides the foundation for supporting healthcare professionals in dealing with the electronic patient record. For the University Hospital Balgrist, CISTEC is already working on connecting KISIM to the Axsana core community for pilot operation.
