About the job
Mediator position for mediation in juvenile criminal proceedings 50 - 80%The mediation office in juvenile criminal proceedings conducts mediations on behalf of the five juvenile prosecution offices in the canton of Zurich. The mediation process is an offer for young people as well as involved adults to independently resolve conflicts and their consequences related to a criminal offence (as an alternative to criminal proceedings).
For the specialist office centrally located in the city of Zurich, we are looking to strengthen our team immediately or by arrangement with two mediators with a workload between 50 – 80%.
These tasks await you:
- You conduct mediation procedures with all parties involved, both alone and as a co-mediator.
- You participate in the further development of the conceptual foundations as well as the offerings of the specialist office and work on corresponding projects.
- You support the management of the specialist office and also take on representative functions.
This is what distinguishes you:
- You have a university degree or an equivalent basic education, preferably in psychology, pedagogy, social work or law.
- You have a mediation training recognised by professional circles and have proven experience in conducting mediation cases, ideally in the field of mediation in criminal matters.
- You bring relevant professional experience and are willing to continue your specialist education and regularly reflect on your mediation practice.
- You enjoy working with young people, are interested in their life worlds and your broad life experience enables you to deal confidently and sensitively with all parties involved, even in difficult conflict situations.
- You can clearly express your opinion and, thanks to your mediation and communication skills, find good access to young people in delicate adolescent phases, their legal representatives and the juvenile prosecutors who are your internal clients.
- You are a humorous, resilient and decisive personality and your independent working style is characterised by empathy and a human-oriented optimistic basic attitude.
