Data Engineer 80 - 100%Together with you, we shape the digital transformation of the Canton of Zurich. We need you and your uniqueness: service-oriented and holistic thinking, hands-on and humorous.
The Statistical Office supports the Canton of Zurich on its way to a data-enabled administration. Together with our partners, we lay the foundation for a modern, efficient, and collaborative data management.
From June 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking to strengthen our team with a Data Engineer 80%–100%
Your tasks
- You take a key role in the implementation of the cantonal data platform and thus contribute to a successful digital transformation (SDV 25+).
- You implement diverse data use cases and support administrative units in realizing their solutions on the data platform.
- You translate technical possibilities into the language of the specialist departments, advise them on the potential of the data platform, and promote knowledge transfer.
- You move confidently in hybrid worlds – from modern cloud environments to on-premises stacks.
Your profile
- Solid experience in data engineering with data platform technologies such as Databricks and Microsoft Fabric. A good understanding of on-premises infrastructures.
- You not only write convincing concepts but also smart code (e.g., in SQL, Python, R, dbt, Spark) and understand modern data stack principles (Data Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture).
- You enjoy exchanging ideas – whether with IT experts or specialists.
- Very good oral and written German skills (at least German level C1) are essential for advising cantonal offices.
