About the job
The Museum Appenzell is the cultural-historical museum of the canton of Appenzell I.Rh. and is supported by the public-law foundation pro Innerhoden. It manages an extensive cultural-historical and ethnological collection with a focus on rural everyday culture, traditional folk culture, and textiles. In addition, the museum maintains a significant photo collection. On average, two special exhibitions are realized per year. Due to the retirement of the previous co-leader, we are looking for a committed personality as of November 1, 2026Your Tasks
- Scientific processing and strategic further development of the object and photo collection (inventory, indexing, documentation)
- Maintenance and further development of the digital collection database
- Care and organization of the collection depot
- Processing and handling of donation and purchase inquiries
- Active involvement in collection mediation
- Assistance in the conception and realization of innovative exhibitions and events
- Support of museum management in research work and writing exhibition texts
- Conducting guided tours
Your Profile
- Completed university degree (Master's) in a humanities or social science subject or comparable qualification
- Experience in collection and exhibition work
- Interest in cultural-historical issues and the collection of the Museum Appenzell
- Skilled in writing generally understandable texts as well as pronounced communication skills
- Creative flair and willingness to participate practically
- Structured, independent, and team-oriented way of working
