GIS Specialist with Project Management

Do you love maps, data, and the big picture? Then help us shape geoinformation in the Canton of Zurich and take responsibility for exciting GIS assignments and projects.

Your tasks

• You are part of the central contact point for all GIS topics of our customers
• You independently implement GIS customer orders, from the idea to the finished map or application
• You advise cantonal offices on geodata and GIS solutions
• You take over the management of small GIS projects and coordinate internal as well as external partners
• You enjoy working customer-oriented and like to share your knowledge

Your profile

• Completed university of applied sciences/university degree in geoinformation, geomatics or geography
• Several years of GIS experience, first practice in project management
• Confident in handling ArcGIS Pro, WebGIS and FME
• Further training in project management is an advantage (e.g. HERMES)
• Communicative, customer-oriented and structured – even with parallel topics
• Enjoyment of teamwork and responsibility for projects

The Office for Spatial Development (ARE) is the cantonal specialist office for spatial planning, geoinformation and cultural heritage preservation. It contributes to promoting the location quality of the living and economic area of Zurich and creates the conditions for attractive settlement and landscape areas. In addition, the ARE provides spatial data and preserves the cultural heritage of the Canton of Zurich.

The GIS Office, as a competence center for spatial data, provides reliable geodata, geoinformation and services, coordinates the exchange and networking of data and thus promotes improved use, knowledge building and decision-making.[
