Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta's hiring team is seeking an Analytical Laboratory Technician in Muttenz, Switzerland. In this role, you will assist us with the following tasks:
Conducting and interpreting specialised and complex analyses according to specified objectives.
Knowledge and management of analytical methods for existing processes; supporting the development and optimisation of laboratory procedures.
Contributing to the development of new analytical methods through independent management of simple development projects.
Operation and maintenance of several specific instruments according to laboratory organisation; responsibility for their proper functioning.
Knowledge and compliance with HSEQ risks and regulations (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) within own area of responsibility.
Complete, up-to-date documentation of all experimental results, laboratory journals, and test reports.
Identification, preparation, and implementation of improvements to laboratory procedures.
Active participation in an optimisation group (HSEQ, standards) at the departmental level.
Ensuring a clean and safely organised workplace (fume hood, laboratory benches, office).
Independent execution and interpretation of analyses (e.g., LC, GC, Karl Fischer).
Support in commissioning new equipment.
Supervision and training of operational staff to ensure uninterrupted shift analytical operations.
Independent development, optimisation, and validation of analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
Creation and maintenance of required regulations and work instructions.
Ensuring maintenance and operational readiness of analytical instruments.
Data evaluation and complete documentation.
Procurement of aids, chemicals, and consumables.
Qualifications
- Completed vocational training as a chemical laboratory technician (analytical focus)
Several years of practical experience in instrumental analysis (HPLC, GC, IR, Chromeleon software)
Completed vocational training as a chemical laboratory technician or equivalent education
Alternatively: at least 5 years of professional experience in the analytical field
Initiative, dynamic and flexible personality with enthusiasm for development and documentation
Strong team skills and cross-departmental collaboration
High level of organisation, commitment, and communication skills
Good MS Office skills
Fluent German spoken and written; English skills advantageous
Ability to independently perform routine tasks under moderate professional supervision
Confident handling of complex instruments, techniques, and methods in the laboratory environment
Structured problem-solving skills even in complex situations with incomplete data
Clear and regular communication with all functions in the organisation
Implementation of changes and constructive handling of uncertainties
Promotion of an innovation culture in the laboratory environment
Close collaboration with all relevant disciplines
Marked flexibility and adaptability
